About L.E.N.S.
What is L.E.N.S.?
L.E.N.S. stands for Lifting Every Neighborhood School in Prayer. It's a prayer ministry in Long Beach, California. Our goal is that every one of the 83 Long Beach Unified schools is covered in daily prayer.
About L.E.N.S.Is L.E.N.S. part of Long Beach Unified School District?
No. L.E.N.S. is a prayer ministry. It is not part of Long Beach Unified School District, and it is not run by the district or by any school. We pray from our homes and churches, and on the public sidewalks outside our schools.
Do I need to belong to a church?
No. Anyone who wants to pray for Long Beach schools is welcome. When you adopt a school we ask for your church or organization, but you can leave it blank.
Adopting a school
Can I adopt more than one school?
Yes. Adopt each school on its own, and you'll get a prayer folder for each one. If you're new to this, starting with one school is a good way to begin.
What's the difference between praying daily and weekly?
Both matter. A school with at least one person praying for it every day counts as covered in daily prayer. A school with only weekly prayer partners shows as "team forming" until someone commits to pray for it every day.
What happens after I adopt a school?
We email you a prayer folder: your school's details, what to pray for, the next prayer walk in your district and a scripture to start with.
Then your district prayer leader will reach out to welcome you. If your district doesn't have a leader yet, the L.E.N.S. team will.
Which district is my school in?
Search for your school on the Adopt a School page; each school shows its district. You can also explore the map on the Districts page. Our five districts follow Long Beach Unified's five school board areas.

Prayer walks
What happens on a prayer walk? Do we go on campus?
We meet near the school, pray together, then walk the public sidewalks around it, praying quietly as we go. We end by praying together again.
We don't go onto the campus or its grounds, and we never approach or photograph students.
Read the prayer walk guideCan children come?
Yes. Children are welcome with a parent or guardian who stays with them the whole time.
Privacy
Is my information private?
Yes. Your name, email and phone number are never shown on the website. District prayer leaders see only the sign-ups for their own district.
When we share an answered prayer, it shows only the storyteller's role and school, never a name.
How do I share an answered prayer?
Go to the Answered Prayers page and choose "Share your story". We read every story before it appears on the site.
