About L.E.N.S.

Every school, covered in prayer.

L.E.N.S. stands for Lifting Every Neighborhood School in Prayer. We are a prayer ministry in Long Beach, and our goal is simple: every one of the 83 Long Beach Unified schools prayed for by name, every day.

Our mission

Cover every school in Long Beach with Daily Prayers to provide divine protection and guidance to each school, bind the demonic from entering any school and bring the peace of God to every school in Long Beach.

The L.E.N.S. mission

What we do

Four simple practices, repeated in every corner of the city.

  • Adopt a school

Each prayer partner chooses one school and prays for it by name, every day or every week. A school with a daily partner counts as covered.

    Find a school

  • Walk and gather

Each district holds prayer walks on the public sidewalks around its schools, and gatherings where we pray together.

    See the calendar

  • A leader for each district

Each of the five districts has its own prayer leader, who welcomes new prayer partners and organizes the walks.

    Meet the leaders

  • Share answered prayers

When God answers, we tell each other. Stories are shared with the role and school only, never a name.

How it works

Anyone can take part. It starts with one school.

  1. Choose a school

Your child's school, the one on your street, or one that nobody is praying for yet.

  2. Commit to pray daily or weekly

Pray for it by name. We'll email you a prayer folder with what to pray for.

  3. Walk and share

Join your district's prayer walks, and tell us what God does at your school.

The five districts

Long Beach Unified's school board is elected from five areas. We call them districts, and we pray for every school in each one.

Our heart

Seek the peace of the city... and pray unto the LORD for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace.

Jeremiah 29:7

God told His people to pray for the city where He had placed them, because its peace would be their peace. We believe the same is true for Long Beach.

Our schools are where the whole city meets: children from every neighborhood, and the teachers, staff and families who care for them. When we pray for our schools, we pray for Long Beach.

A prayer ministry, not a school program

L.E.N.S. is a prayer ministry. It is not part of Long Beach Unified School District, and it is not run by the district or by any school. We pray from our homes and churches, and on the public sidewalks outside our schools.
